When is the best time to visit Tamarindo?
December through April is dry, sunny and calm — peak season, peak prices. May to November brings afternoon showers and much lower rates, with clear mornings and bigger, more consistent surf. September and October are the wettest and quietest months.
Can you swim safely at Tamarindo Beach?
Yes, in the central and southern sections. Avoid the river mouth at the north end: the current is strong and crocodiles do use the estuary. Rip currents form on bigger swells, so swim between the flags and ask at your hotel about conditions that day.
How far is Tamarindo from La Fortuna?
