About this drive
The transfer from San José Airport to Manuel Antonio takes about three hours, south on Route 27 and then Route 34 along the Pacific. Manuel Antonio centres on Costa Rica’s smallest national park — 1,983 hectares — and one of its most visited, with white-sand beaches lined with rainforest and easy sloth and capuchin sightings on four marked trails. Worth knowing when you plan the day of arrival: the park is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays. Hotels cluster along the road between Quepos and the park entrance, and we drop you at yours rather than at a central stop.
